Six Attackers Of Senator Echocho Now In Detention, To Face Speedy Prosecution – Police

Six suspects suspected to be behind the Tuesday attack on Senator Jibrin Isa Echocho at the Kogi State Government House are now in police custody.

Spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, SP Williams Aya confirmed the arrest and detention of the suspects in a statement in Lokoja on Wednesday.

He said the suspects were promptly arrested same day by operatives attached to the Quick Response Unit.

Aya said all the suspects will be speedily prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

Governor Yahaya Bello had earlier in the day ordered immediate arrest and prompt prosecution of the sux suspects.

In the statement, Aya said : ” The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, condemned the attack as very unfortunate, unwarranted, despicable and ordered for discreet investigation.

“He further assures that the suspects arrested in connection with the incident will be charged to Court immediately to serve as a deterrent to others.

“The CP appeals to the good people of the State to remain law abiding and continue to collaborate with the Police and other Security Agencies and volunteer timely and credible information on the activities of Criminal elements in the State.”
