Omodara : The ‘Pain In The Neck’ of Criminals, Pride Of Kogi Govt, No Nonsense Crime Fighter In the Eyes of Citizens

By Abu Micheal

…Commander Jerry Omodara leads clearance of illegal Abobo trailer park as Gov. Ododo intensifies war on criminal hideouts

The Kogi State Government has commenced clearance of the illegal trailer park in Abobo, a notorious hideout that security agencies say harbored criminal elements.

The operation, led by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, was carried out on the direct orders of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and underscores the administration’s drive to make adjoining towns and motor parks free of criminals.

Since assuming office as SSA Security, Commander Omodara has become what criminals in Kogi now call “an enemy” and what citizens call a “ no nonsense crime fighter.”

To the Ododo administration, he is simply the pride of the government: a retired naval officer whose professionalism, precision, and passion have redefined security coordination in the Confluence State.

The Abobo trailer park clearance is the latest in a string of operations where Omodara has led from the front.

The exercise signals zero tolerance for spaces used by criminals to plan kidnappings, robberies, and other violent crimes along Kogi’s highways and urban centers.

Security sources say the move will disrupt criminal logistics and restore sanity to the area.

For Omodara, Abobo is not an isolated case. It reflects his broader doctrine of anticipating threats, denying criminals safe haven, and restoring order before panic sets in.

What makes him effective and feared by criminals is the way he blends military discipline with grassroots understanding.

As a retired naval officer, he brings structure, command chain clarity, and crisis response training to Government House, but he has adapted that training to Kogi’s realities of farmer-herder clashes, highway kidnappings, communal disputes, and flood-related insecurity.

He does not wait for attacks. He leans on early warning by working directly with traditional rulers, LGA chairmen, vigilante groups, hunters, youth leaders, and community members to strengthen intelligence gathering at the grassroots.

His philosophy is simple: every village must serve as a listening post, and that approach has improved early warning and reduced reaction time during flashpoints.

Kogi’s security landscape involves multiple agencies, but Omodara has succeeded in getting them on one table.

He coordinates joint operations, ensures intelligence flows between the Army, Police, DSS, NSCDC, Navy, and local vigilantes, and translates complex security data into clear options for the Governor.

His neutrality and professionalism have helped avoid inter-agency rivalry that often weakens responses.

When there is a kidnapping on the Lokoja-Okene road or communal tension in Kogi and Kotonkarfe, panic spreads fast, yet his naval training shows in how he manages information flow to the Governor with clear options and actionable steps, no drama.

Like the administration’s stance at the 2026 World Environment Day, Omodara advocates for technology in security.

He has supported the use of surveillance tools, communication gadgets, GIS mapping, and data for patrol routes and flashpoint mapping.

He has also championed the recruitment of more vigilantes and preventive engagement with communities before small disputes become crises.

Security observers say the success story of Governor Ododo’s administration, built on the foundation laid by former Governor Yahaya Bello, would be incomplete without mentioning Omodara.

He is not the one on the frontline pulling triggers, but he is the one ensuring the right people, with the right information, get to the right place at the right time.

In the eyes of criminals, Commander Jerry Omodara is a pain in the neck.

In the eyes of the Kogi State Government, he is pride and precision.

In the eyes of citizens, he is the “nonsense crime fighter” who makes them feel safe again.

As the Ododo administration intensifies its focus on safety, peace, and climate resilience, Omodara’s blend of military professionalism, political neutrality, community trust, and speed of decision-making continues to anchor Kogi’s security architecture.
