Abuja – Terrorists on Tuesday evening opened fire on the convoy of cars carrying the advance team of President Muhammadu Buhari to Daura , Katsina State.
They were attacked near Dutsinma town by gunmen who had laid ambush for them.
Two persons were injured in the gun attack and are now in treatment in an undisclosed health facility.
Those caught in the attack were security guards, protocol and media officers.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on media, Garba Sheu confirmed the attack on the presidency officials in a statement in Abuja Tuesday evening.
Shehu said the gunmen on Tuesday evening opened fire on the convoy from ” ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.”
He said two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered.
Sheu described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State.
“All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura,” he said. (vitalnewsngr.com)
