Guber Poll : Tinubu Expresses Optimism Kogi Will Remain In APC
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Kogi State APC Governorship Campaign Council has expressed concern over the Tuesday morning raids carried out by the Joint Security Force on private houses of members of the party in Kogi East senatorial district.

Spokesman of the campaign council, Kingsley Fanwo in a statement in Lokoja said the early Tuesday morning raid by police, DSS, and civil defence was “needless.”

” As the November 11 governorship election draws near, the APC emphasised the need for security agencies to exercise caution and be fair to all the 18 political parties contesting the election.

“We wish to reiterate that as a Campaign Council, we welcome every effort at ensuring a peaceful poll on November 11, 2023.

“The election is for the electorate to determine who leads the state from January 27, 2024 and therefore shouldn’t be a reason for insecurity in the state.

“We express deep concerns regarding the needless raid on the residences of some of our chieftains in Kogi East.

“We hold the hope that they are not specifically targeted ahead of the election.

“We hereby call on security agencies to act professionally, fairly and with the patriotic intent to maintain law and order before, during and after the election,” the statement said.

The police had earlier in the day issued a statement in which it said that three suspected thugs were killed during the raid carried out in one of the private building in Ayingba.

The police said two AK-47 rifles were recovered while seven suspected political thugs were arrested.

Spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command , SP William Aya said the raids were carried by a joint team of police, DSS and civil defence.
