Former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama has said there’s a chance he’ll play in the Nigeria Professional Football League again, seventeen years after departing.
The former Lille shot-stopper said he wants to play football again and that he also wants to go to Nigeria four years after playing his final professional game.
“It’s really interesting, yes it is, and I miss football,” Enyeama said in an interview on Uyo’s Comfort 95.1 FM, as per Fagenwa Sanni.
“So I would like to return to it, first with a team here in France, because I trained here in Lille and back when I was in Akwa Ibom.
“And I will come back to Nigeria next year. So if Akwa United needs a goalkeeper for 4-5 months, yes, I have the opportunity to play for free.”
The former Enyimba goalkeeper, who won three league championships and two continental trophies with the Aba Elephants before joining Enyimba in 2001, first broke into the professional game while playing for Ibom Stars.
He crossed the border to play for Iwuanyawu Nationale in Owerri before 2005, when Bnei Yehuda in Israel enlisted his services.
He made a name for himself in the league while in Israel and eventually joined Israeli powerhouse Hapoel Tel Aviv before relocating to France to join Lille.
