Budget Padding : Senate Pardons, Recalls Sen. Abdul Ningi

The Senate On Tuesday pardoned and recalled Sen. Abdul Ningi, the Senator representing Bauchi Central.

The Senate had on March 12, 2024 suspended for three months for accusing the Senate of budget padding.

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Sen. Abba Moro initiated Ningi recall via a motion.

Moro, expressed regret on behalf of the suspended senator and promised to guide against such mistake in future.

Moro accepted full responsibility for Sen. Ningi’s actions, acknowledging the gravity of the suspension.

The senator’s conduct during the period of suspension has been a matter of scrutiny and debate within the legislative body.

The Senate President Godswill Akpabio, in his response described Ningi as resourceful, saying that he is a valued member of the Senate.

Akpabio added that the decision to recall Sen. Ningi transcends religion and ethnic divides.
