Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has assured residents of the state of his administration’s determination to sustain the present tempo of even infrastructural development across the state.
Abiodun made the pledge on Tuesday inaugurating the newly constructed hospital road in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government.
He promised the people of the area of more projects to enhance its quick economic development.
According to him, his administration has constructed over 600 kilometres of road across the state in the last five years.
He added that more roads would be commissioned at Iperu and Ilaro during the week.
According to the governor, the Ogijo community is one of the highly industrial areas of the state due to gas reticulation facility there.
He stated that his administration has solved the electricity challenges that affected the community for decades through the provision of transformers and other electric accessories.
Abiodun noted that constructing the road was in keeping with the promise he made when he visited the area about a year ago.
He said despite the difficulty faced by the contractors in the course of construction, they were able to surmount and deliver the project on time.
Road infrastructure, the governor said, is one of the key catalysts that engendered development, positing that the newly constructed road would boost commercial activities in the area as it leads to several communities.
“This community is very important to us, apart from being a border town, it is also an industrial area.
“I can assure you that this community will experience more development.
“I call on the Kabiyesi to work with the local government chairman, community development associations, and all relevant stakeholders and come up with projects according to their priority for immediate execution,” he said.
While emphasizing that his administration would not make empty promises, the governor said the event was to kickstart a series of projects commissioning to mark the first year of his second term in office.
He thanked traditional rulers and the people of the area for their unalloyed support to his government.
Abiodun assured that uncompleted projects that would add value to the people would be completed just as no part of the state would be developed to the detriment of others.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya said the commissioning of the Hospital Road is a testament to the commitment of the state government at ensuring infrastructural development in all parts of the state.
The commissioner assured that more roads would be constructed and commissioned by the governor, noting that roads infrastructure engender socio-economic development.
The Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Mr. Afolabi Odulate, said the construction of the road was one of the requests he made to the governor concerning the area.
Odulate noted that his administration has supported the state government with the construction of several roads in communities across the council area.
Ologijo of Ogijoland, Oba Kezeem Gbadamosi, who represented the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, said though, an industrial hub, the area suffered many years of neglect as previous administrations did not pay attention to the community’s infrastructural needs.
He added that with the commissioning of the road, the narrative has changed for the better.
While calling the governor’s attention to other deplorable roads in the area, the traditional ruler appreciated the state government for ensuring that the road is well constructed with good drainage system.
