Veteran Nollywood Actor, Chief Kola Oyewo Is dead. He was 80 years.
He died in his Ile Ife , Osun State residence on Friday, June 12, 2026.
Bayo Bankole, a stage manager in his final year project anniunced his death in a terse statement issued Friday night.
Balogun Kola Oyewo has been battling prostate cancer for years.
“A great actor finally took a bow… Rest in perfect peace Uncle Kay…it was an honor to have worked with you, I took pride to have been the stage manager in your final year project… till we meet to part no more… o digba sir,”

Born in 1946 in Oba Ile, Osun State, Oyewo’s acting journey began in 1964 with the Oyin Adejobi Theatre Group.
He gained prominence with his role as “Odewale” in Ola Rotimi’s “The Gods Are Not to Blame” and went on to star in notable films like “Sango”, “Super Story”, and “Saworoide”.
The family is yet to issue a formal statement on the death of the great thespian.
