Lokoja – Kogi State government has disbanded the state-owned football club, Kogi United Football Club.
The Management of the club announced the disbandment of its coaching crew and players at the weekend.
Abdulmalik Isah, the Chairman of the Club announced in Lokoja on Saturday that the disbandment takes immediate effect.
The action may not be unconnected to the poor showing of the club in the current season of the Nigeria National League.
Only last Saturday, Kogi United lost 4:0 away from home to Hypebuzz FC in Abuja.
With the poor result, club is now relegated to the lower division of Nigeria league.
Kogi United in the last two seasons had failed to maintain their spot in the Nigeria National League following its consistent abysmal performance.
