Stakeholders in Iyale Community, Dekina Local Government of Kogi Staye jave pledged to allow peace to reign before, during and after the February 25 and March 11 general elections.
They made the commitment durin a dialogue meeting held on February 17 at CMML Hall in the community.
The Stakeholders dialogue meeting was facilitated by Mercy Corps with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Community Initiative to Promote Peace (CIPP)
The meeting had in attendance the Onuh Iyale, Chief Wada Drisu Akogu, the ward chairmen of the two main political parties – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP,) and the All Progressive Congress (APC), women Leaders, youth leaders, representatives of security agencies in the area, the media as well as the CIPP structures made up of the Community Peace Observers, The Trained Mediators, the women Critical Discussion Group in the community.
Stakeholders at the event jointly identify fake news and misinformation as major threats to peace in the community , urging all stakeholders to rise up to the challenge.
