Gusau – Zamfara State Government has suspended the Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto, Alhaji Aliyu Marafa, for conferring a chieftaincy title on a banditry kingpin, Ado Alero.
Birnin ‘Yandoto town is located in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.
Marafa had on Saturday, July 16 conferred the title of Sarkin Fulani on Alero, a well known bandit in the state.
Marafa had claimed that he gave the Chieftaincy to the Banditry kingpin in recognition of the roles he played in restoring peace to his Emirate.
But the state government condemned and distanced itself from all the processes leading to the installation of Alero as Sarkin Fulani by the Emir.
Accordingly, the Secretary to the State Government, Kabiru Balarabe Sardauna announced the suspension of the emir with immediate effect.
It also set up a six-man committee under the Chairmanship of Mr Yahaya Chado Gora to investigate the circumstances leading to the action of the emir.
The District Head of ‘Yandoto, Alh. Mahe Garba Marafa, has been appointed to take charge of the affairs of the emirate. (vitalnewsngr.com)
