Nigerian Nurses Charitable Association UK (NNCAUK), has suggested that Nigeria and United Kingdom develop a structured Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) on migration of health workers.
The suggestion was one of the highlights of the organisation’s 25th anniversary gala night which has Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) as the special guest of honour.
Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NIDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols in a statement said the diaspora group is the largest association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives in the UK.
The theme of the anniversary is
“Leading the Future Influencing Global Health”.
Speaking at the event , Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa commended members of the association and Midwives their charitable deeds and urged them to continue to give back to their motherland .
She expressed optimism that Nigerian healthcare practitioners in the Diaspora, working with their counterparts in Nigeria, can make Nigeria, a medical tourist destination, rather than the other way round.
According to her, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is committed to improving healthcare facilities and practice in Nigeria.
She called for more collaboration by establishing partnerships for knowledge exchange, telemedicine initiatives and skills transfer programs.
The NIDCOM boss commended the association for being one of the most progressive
and focused diaspora groups.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Nurses Charitable Association UK (NNCAUK), Wendy Olayiwola ( BEM) , said they will continue to contribute their expertise through their collaborations with medical institutions back in Nigeria.
He stressed the need to create more platforms for networking and communication to foster a collaborative environment for sharing insights and best Practices.
Also speaking at another event, the Thanksgiving celebration gathering by the Yorubas in the UK, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa called on them to continue to project Nigeria positively and join hands with Nigerians at home to make Nigeria better.
The Mayor of Southwark, Mayor Micheal Situ, commended Nigerians in the UK and pledged to continue to serve the community effectively and efficiently. (vitalnewsngr.com)
