A woman arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle psychoactive substances into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State has been taken into custody by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Controller of Corrections, Kamoru Adesina who disclosed this on Monday in Abeokuta said the woman was handed over to
NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The woman was arrested was arrested while attempting to smuggle the drug into the centre for his son who is on death row.
The suspect was apprehended at 1:33 pm on Friday, August 28, 2026, during routine screening at the entrance.
She ran into trouble when officers discovered a sachet of Milo beverage reportedly containing substances suspected to be “colos” while she was visiting an inmate on death row.
Adesina praised the officers for their vigilance and reaffirmed the Service’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and criminal activities within custodial centres.
The Command also warned members of the public against attempting to compromise prison security.
He tressed that correctional centres are meant for reformation and rehabilitation, not the circulation of illicit substances.
