Ogbomoso- Foremost Yoruba traditional ruler, Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade 111 has joined his ancestors.
Sources close to his palace in Ogbomoso said that the 95 year old traditional ruler died in his sleep in the early hours of Sunday , December 12 after spending 48 years on the throne.
Until his transition, he was one of the longest traditional rulers in the country , having ascended the throne on October 24, 1973.
He was born on May 27, 1926 to the 12th Soun of Ogbomoso , Oba Bello Afolabi Oyewumi 11 and Olori Seliat Olatundun Oyewumi and grew up in Ogbomoso andJos Plateau State.
He was a successful businessman and was into mining, hospitality, auto dealer, distributive trades among others.
During his reign, Ogbomoso witnessed a tremendous development in the areas of education, health , commerce and industry .
His tenure witnessed the establishment of LAUTECH, a teaching hospital and many public and private secondary and primary school.
Oladayo Popoola, Daniel Akintonde and Adebayo Akala became military and civilian governors during the reign of the late Oba.
He is expected to be buried today in accordance with Islamic rites.
