Police Rescue 24 Passengers Of Peace Mass Transit Bus From Kidnappers

Lokoja – All the 24 passengers of a Peace Mass Transit bus kidnapped in Kogi State on Wednesday, July 26 have been rescued by police.

Spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Aya confirmed this on Saturday in Lokoja.

He said the victims were rescued from a thick forest in the evening of Friday, July 28.

Aya said a police rescue team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Olamaboro Local Government performed the feat.

He said all the victims were rescued unhurt, adding that no ransom was paid.

Aya said the passengers have since departed to their various destinations.

He also said no arrest has been made but said police are still on the trail of the kidnappers.

It would be recalled that the bus was travelling from to Enugu when it was accosted by suspected armed kidnappers at Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government , Kogi State.

The kidnappers abducted 24 passengers in the bus and whisked them into a forest.

They, however, spared a nursing mother and her three month old baby.
