The Ekiti State Police Command has taken into custody an officer accused of stabbing a civilian in Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State, over an altercation involving his girlfriend and the victim’s son.
The arrest follows a viral video circulating on social media, where the victim’s daughter claimed the officer attacked her father in their home.
According to the victim’s daughter, the officer’s girlfriend had an argument with her brother at school, which escalated into the officer and another police officer visiting their home to confront her brother.
However, upon arrival, they met her father and elder brother instead, resulting in the officer stabbing her father on the palm.
The Ekiti State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Abutu Sunday, revealed that Commissioner of Police CP Joseph Eribo has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, to take over the case and conduct a thorough investigation.
The officer in question is currently in custody, and the command has assured the public that justice will be served.
The command is calling on everyone, especially the family members of the victim, to remain calm as the investigation unfolds.
