Police in Ilorin, Kwara State, have arrested Malaika, the son of Iya Ibiye, a traditional worshipper, in connection with the recent fire incident that gutted their family house in the Ojagboro area of Ilorin, the state capital.

Malaika was arrested in the early hours of Sunday by operatives and has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the for further questioning.

The development comes barely 24 hours after the police officially announced the arrest of three community leaders over the same incident.

The arrested individuals were reportedly members of the Community Development Association (CDA) leadership in the area.

A police source disclosed that investigations are still ongoing to determine the actual cause of the fire and unravel the roles played by all parties involved.
