Court Remands Man In Prison For Raping A Minor In Ekiti

A 30 year-old man,  Olaniyi Sunday, has been remanded in prison for allegedly raping a Minor in Omuo Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The order for his remand was issued by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon.

The prosecutor,  Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that Sunday, allegedly committed the rape of a 12-year-old girl between April and June in Araromi quarters, Omuo-Ekiti.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant, a neighbour of the victim, caught her stealing meat from another neighbour’s pot and threatened to expose her unless she agreed to have sex with him.

Inspector Adeniyi said the victim did not accept the condition until she was raped in the process.

He urged the court to remand the defendant pending the issuance of legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional center, pending the release of the legal advice, and subsequently adjourned the case until August 7 for mention.(vitalnewsngr.com)
