Osun State Government on Monday confirmed that it has recorded two cases of Monkeypox also known as Mpox.
The state Commissioner for Health, Mr Jola Akintola, confirmed the development in a statement in Osogbo.
He said the cases were recorded in Ilesa-West Local Government area of the state.which is currently experiencing outbreak of the disease.
Akintola , however, urged residents not to panic, saying that the outbreak is being effectively managed by the state government.
He advised residents to take preventive measures to minimize the risk of transmission and report any suspicious symptoms to the appropriate health authorities.
According to him, the state hovernment has activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC), to curtail the spread of the disease.
His said : “We successfully managed COVID-19 and prevented a cholera outbreak.
“Now, with two confirmed M-pox cases, the EOC has been activated, and stakeholders will meet every Monday to strategize on preventing the spread of the virus.” (vitalnewsngr.com)
