Kwara Govt.Condemns Killing Of Traditional Ruler, Vows To Fish Out Perpetrators

Yet to be identified gun men have killed a retired Major – General who is also the Olukoro of Koro Ekiti in Kwara State, Oba Segun Aremu.

Oba Aremu was killed by gunmen who invaded his palace at about 8pm of Thursday, February 1, 2024.

The gunmen also kidnapped his wife and two others.

The slain King retired from the Nigerian Army as a Major – General.

Koro Ekiti community is in Ekiti Local Government  Area of Kwara State.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State confirmed the killing of the traditional ruler in a statement.

He condemned the gruesome killing of Oba Segun Aremu, vowing that the perpetrators will be arrested and made to face justice.

In the statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor described killing of Aremu as “reckless, shocking, and abominable.”

He charged security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity.

“My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” the statement said. (vitalnewsngr.com)
