Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State on Thursday visited Iluke community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area where bandits killed a Vice Principal and two other persons during an attempt to abduct final year secondary students writing their WAEC examination.
During the visit, Ododoe reaffirmed his administration’s determination to eliminate banditry and other criminal activities across the state.
The Governor spoke while consoling the residents of Iluke on the banditry attack on the secondary school in the community on June 10.
The victims of the attack were the Vice Principal of Government Secondary School, Iluke, Pastor Anufo Owuse, an elderly man, and a young girl who was struck by stray bullets during the attack.
Governor Ododo expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and assured the people that his administration would not relent in its determination to protect lives and property across the state.
The governor commended the military, other security agencies, local vigilantes and hunters for their bravery and sacrifice.
He described their prompt intervention as heroic and decisive in preventing what could have been one of the most devastating mass abductions in the state’s history.
