Lokoja – The Inter-Tribal Association of Nigeria (ITAN), Kogi State Chapter have declared its support for the governorship ambition of Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku , the current Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello.

The state Chairman of ITAN, Comrade Muhammad Abdulrazaq Sani made this known on Tuesday in Lokoja in a press statement.

Sani in the press statement issued after a stakeholder’s dialogue and consultations across the statesaid the group’s support for Asuku was to enable him consolidate on the achievements and continue with the good work of Governor Yahaya Bello.

He further explained the choice of Asuku was premised on a holistic appraisal and assessment of his track records in both public and private sector.

The Chairman said Asuku has been a bridge builder, a unifier and a detribalised Nigerian who would foster unity among all ethnic and religious groups as governor of the state.

“His contributions in ensuring peace and stability, education development, health care concerns, human capital development , and women inclusiveness in governance; which are the cardinal focus points of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration is the key ingredients that convinced the leadership of ITAN to align with his aspiration in the interest of common man in kogi,” Sani said

The Chairman said in this period of global inflation and economic uncertainty , the state needs a visionary leader like Asuku who will ” consolidate on the achievements of GYB in the interest of our generation and generation not yet born.”

The group thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free, fair and credible national and state elections on February 25 and March 18.

It also appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring that Nigerians the elections were devoid of vote buying.
