The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has rejected ‘the expanded Kogi State executive council recently put in place and inaugurated by the
African Democratic Congress (ADC ) in Kogi State.

The executive recently put in place by Hon.Leke Abejide, member, representing Yagba federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

The INEC rejected the new state executive on grounds that its
composition did not follow the due process.

The INEC said the letter ought to have emanated from the ADC national secretariat in Abuja and sent directly to its Abuja head office and not to Lokoja office or any state office.

Recalled that the ADC had last Saturday, November 22, 2025 during a Stakeholders’meeting held in Lokoja, elected new members into the expanded state executive council of the party.

Those elected were mostly from the faction being led by Hon. Leke Abejide

During the stakeholders meeting, Mr Sunday Maiyaki was elected to replace Mr Kingsley Temitope Ogah as the state chairman and Mamman Akpena as the new secretary of ADC.

After the election, the names of the ‘new expanded state executive council were conveyed in a letter to the Lokoja office of INEC for notification and proper recognition.

However, INEC, in its response to the letter from the factional ADC,rejected the list of the executive members.

INEC in a letter dated November 25, 2025 and signed by Mr Dahiru Halmisu Usman , its Acting Administrative secretary In Kogi State , said it is only the headquarters of ADC in Abuja that can forward such a letter to it.

INEC further stated that it doesn’t deal with factions but duly elected national officers of all registered political parties.

The INEC letter reads in part : “We write to acknowledge the receipt of your letter and the attachment of the above subject matter and wish to equally state as follows;

“The letter as a matter of standard procedure guilding our operations, ought to have emanated from your National Party Secretariat to INEC headquarters, Abuja;

“We are obliged to honour only communications that follow this procedure and are so conveyed to us through our headquarters for appreciate action(s);

“Consequently, we wish to let you know that you have to comply with this procedure for any communication to be treated deservedly.”

Political watchers say with this development, Kingsley Temitope Ogah executives is still the legally recognized executive both at the national leadership of the party and INEC.
