Nasarawa – Authority of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) said four students of the institution abducted on January 13 have been released by their abductors.
Abubakar Ibrahim, Head, Information and Public Relations Unit of the institution, confirmed this in a statement in Lafia, on Sunday.
He said the students were released on Sunday after spending three days with their abductors.
It will be recalled that the four students were kidnapped by gunmen at Mararraba community close to the school campus.
The students were released at the late hours of Sunday, January 15, according to Ibrahim.
The statement quoted the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shehu Abdul-Rahman, as expressing gratitude to the state government and the public for their prayers and support during the trying moment.
” The Vice Chancellor also expressed appreciation to the security agencies for their timely interventions that led to the quick and safe return of the students.
“Consequently upon their release, the students have undergone medical checks and they were all found to be in good conditions to immediately resume their studies,” he said.
The statement urged students to remain calm and go about their normal activities on both campuses of the university.
Ibrahim assured the parents, students and the public of the institution’s commitment to making lives and property safe in and around the campus.(vitalnews)
