Lokoja – Governor, Yahaya Bello on Monday administered fresh oath of office on five of his political appointees who recently returned to their previous positions.
The cabinet members had resigned to contest the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held on April 14 but failed in their bid.
The state Commissioner for information, Kingsley Fanwo, who disclosed this at a news conference said the returnee cabinet members were all sworn in during the state Executive Council meeting held in Lokoja on Monday .
Fanwo said oaths of secrecy and allegiance were administered on them.
The five returning appointees are the Chief of Staff, Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic planning, Idris Ashiru, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deedat Ozigi, Accountant- General of the State, Jubrin Momoh and the Auditor-General of the State, Yakubu Okala.
Fanwo, said the returning appointees were all charged by Governor Bello to continue to be loyal and serve diligently to further move the state forward.
He said the meeting received progress reports on all ongoing projects of the administration.
Fanwo, said several of the ongoing projects were at advanced stages of completion according to reports received.
The Commissioner said Governor Bello has reiterated his commitment and determination to complete all the projects before the end of his tenure on January 27, 2024.
“Other approvals at the meeting includes the termination of the appointment of the Former Chairman of the Market Board, Mr. Danjuma Ochima who was accused of dereliction of duties and promoting the return of filth in the state.
“His replacement would be announced in next few days,” he said.
The Commissioner said the meeting also approved a Memo seeking for the establishment of the Directorate of Medical Laboratory Services in the Ministry of Health.
According to him, the establishment of the Directorate will create co-operations amongst Medical Laboratory Scientists across the states, particularly in health care institutions.
Fanwo, said the meeting also approved a Memo, seeking for a law to repeal the Prohibition of Kidnapping and other related matters, Law 2015 and to be re-enacted as Kogi State Prohibition of Kidnapping and Other Related Maters, law 2023.
He said the State Attorney-general was consequently directed by the meeting to forward the bill to the State House of Assembly.
According to him, the law when passed will strengthening the criminal justice system of the state and help to nip in the bud, issues of kidnapping, thuggery and other violent crimes.
