Colourful floats and flamboyant dancers delighted thousands jammed into Saopaulo’s iconic Sambadrome, putting on a much expected Carnival celebration after the pandemic halted the dazzling displays years back .
The Sambadrome, which during the pandemic was turned into a vaccination centre, was on 15th February , 2023 , received over 70 thousand tourists who watched the samba parades live in the Arena
The art and culture parade, which began with the national anthem, is more than just a dance competition and is also used to highlight important social issues in Brazil such as religious intolerance, racism and violence.
Saopaulo’s Sambodromo parades are a fantasy of beautiful bodies and dreamlike costumes but the self-declared greatest show on Earth is prepared in the street next to an open sewer.
The Sambódromo, watched by 70,000 paying fans, the samba schools marched all night into a stunning blend of military precision, wild imagination and sexual energy.
Thousands upon thousands of performers turned the runway into a river of sequins, feathers, physics-defying floats, g-strings, and flesh oiled up to shine in the bright lights .

The carnival , according to Saopaulo local government authorities , brings about $2 billion in extra revenue to Saopaulo city daily
