Lokoja – Bandits have again killed six persons, including two expatriates working with West Africa Ceramics Company , their two police escorts and two drivers in Ajaokuta Local Government area of Kogi State.
The state police command in a statement in Lokoja on Saturday said the incident happened at about 8pm of Friday, August 5.
The statement signed by the police spokesman, SP William Aya said the victims died during an exchange of fire with the bandits.
Aya said the bandits later fled on sighting a team of policemen led by the Area Commander and a detachment of soldiers reinforced to the scene.
He identified the policemen killed as inspectors attached to the expatriates as escorts.

vitalnewsngr.com recalls that three police officers and five members of the state vigilante service were killed by bandits in the same Ajaokuta Local Government on Saturday, July 30.
Friday incident brings to 14, the number of people killed by bandits in the area in the last one week.
Aya said the state Commissioner of police, Edward Egbuka immediately visited the scene for on-the-spot assessment.
Consequently, Egbuka has ordered the deployment of additional operational assets, consisting of Operatives of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, State Intelligence Bureau in synergy with other security agencies to restore normalcy in the area.
The statement quoted the Commissioner as saying that the Command is committed to working in synergy with other security agencies as well as patriotic stakeholders to make the state a safe and secure place for all and sundry.
He then tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in
charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department “to commence investigations into the unfortunate incident so as to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.” (vitalnewsngr.com)
