Lafia – Bandits have invaded the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State and abducted four students of the institution.
The students were abducted at Mararaba, a community near the university main campus at Lafia.
Mr Abubakar Ibrahim, the Public Relation Officer of the university confirmed the incident in a statement in Lafia on Saturday.
According to him, the bandits invaded the university at about 11:30 pm on Thursday, January 13 to abduct students.
He said that the whereabout of the students is still unknown.
“The authority of the Federal University of Lafia regrets to announce that four students of the institution were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at around 11:30 p.m.
“The unfortunate kidnap incident took place at a community, Mararraba, located close to the university,” the statement said.
Ibrahim said efforts are being intensified to rescue the victims.
“The Vice Chancellor, who has since visited the area where the students were abducted, also visited the Nasarawa Police command where he formally notified the commissioner of Police of the abduction of the students,” he said. (vitalnews)
