Former Chief of Staff to President Olusegun Obasanjo, retired Major General Abdullahi Mohammed is dead.
Mohammed popularly known as Adangba, in his native Ilorin hometown in Kwara State died in the early hours of Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
Aged 86, Mohammed died in his Kaduna residence but no reason has been given for his death.
He was also a former Military Governor of old Benue-Plateau State from 1975 to February 1976 during the military regime of General Murtala Mohammed.
The Ilorin born retired army officer was the founder of the defunct National Security Organization (NSO) now known as Department of State Services (DSS) from 1976 to 1979.
As an extremely intelligent and dutiful retired Military officer, Abdullahi Mohammed served as Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua from 1999 to 2008.
He also served as National Security Adviser (NSA) to General Abdusalami Abubakar from 1998 to 1999.
