The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered its Disciplinary Board to investigate and recommend appropriate action to be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations in the matter of ill treatment of the Super Eagles at Al Abraq Airport in Libya.

A statement on Monday from CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt confirmed this.

The Super Eagles were delayed for about 16 hours at Al Abraq Airport in the remote part of Libya by the Libya Football Federation (LFF).

The Nigerian national was in Libya for the Tuesday’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) return leg match in Benghazi.

CAF described the treatment meted out to Super Eagles as unacceptable.

The statement said : “The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has been in contact with the Libyan and Nigerian authorities after it had been informed that the Nigerian National Football Team (Super Eagles) and their technical team were stranded in disturbing conditions for several hours at an airport that they were allegedly instructed to land by the Libyan authorities.

“The matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation and appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations”.
