2027 : Group Demands Power Shift To Kogi West

A political group, Kogi West Liberation Movement (KWLM), has demanded that the Kogi West Senatorial District be allowed to produce the next governor of Kogi State in 2027.

The group made the demand in a statement released in Lokoja on Thursday.

In the statement signed by its Spokesman, Danteni Ndagi, KWLM insisted that Kogi West eminently deserves to produce the next governor of the state.

It said the the Kogi East has occupied the governorship position for 16 years, Kogi Central has spent 10 and still in office till 2027 while only Kogi West has not been allowed to produce the governor since the state was created in 1991.

Ndagi explained that : “Since the creation of Kogi State in 1991 till date, Kogi East has done an average of sixteen years in power in the State.

“It took divine intervention of God Almighty and natural order for power to shift miraculously to Kogi Central at the end of 2015.

“Now, 2027 approaches and Kogi Central has done its own eight years and God Almighty even graciously gave Kogi Central an additional tenure of four years due to constitutionally end in 2027.

“It is just and fair that come 2027, power shifts to our brothers and sisters in Kogi West.

“Kogi Central has done eight years when His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello governed Kogi State between 2016 and 2024.

“God even topped it with an additional four years with the ongoing tenure of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

“For the sake of morality, justice, fairness and equity, it is expected that by the end of 2027, power will shift to the people of Kogi West to commence their own eight years tenure.

“The essence of this argument is because in Kogi State, rotation of power across the three Senatorial zones is key to the unity and spirit of oneness we enjoy in Kogi State.

“Power rotation to Kogi West will be a legacy recognition of the monumental minds and brains Kogi West has and have been contributing to the good of Kogi State since the creation of Kogi State.

“Kogi West is blessed intellectually.

“It is about time we focus on letting them take the reins of leadership too, just as we have allowed Kogi East and Kogi Central respectively.

“Kogi West parades one of the best leadership materials that are eminently qualified to lead Kogi State just as Kogi East and Kogi Central have well qualified leaders who have even gone on to lead the state in the past and in the present.

“Power rotation to Kogi West, come 2027 is the only missing piece in the political configuration of Kogi State.

“Once power rotates to Kogi West, it will be a legacy accorded to the names of the present leaders of Kogi State that it is in their lifetime that power rotated to Kogi West in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice.”
