Makurdi – Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has donated 25 buses to the campaign team of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State.
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, who disclosed this on Tuesday in Makurdi during the inauguration of the party’s campaign council, said that each of the 23 local governments would get a bus.
He added that Wike had also agreed to attend the campaign’s Monday flag-off in Makurdi.
He commended Wike for consistently supporting the people of Benue in both happy and sad circumstances.
He declared that he had no concerns with any candidate of the party and that if the party’s presidential candidate addressed the issues that were troubling the party, all PDP members would come together to save Nigeria.
He urged the party’s national leadership to pay attention to the voice of reason and deal with the pressing issues brought up by the five governors.
Mr. Wike, Mr. Ortom, Mr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, and Mr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State are the governors.
They are requesting Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, to step down because Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, is also a native of the North.
“All my colleagues and I ask for is a comprehensive discussion of the issues by the committee of the whole house.
“I cannot promise what will happen during the presidential election if the issues that the five governors expressed are not resolved,” he said.
Isaac Mffo, the party’s acting chairman in the state, promised the crowd that the PDP will win the elections in 2023 and emphasized that there was no other party in Benue.
Cletus Tyokyaa, Director General of the State Campaign Council, spoke on behalf of the members and promised to do everything in his power to promote the candidates’ chances of winning.
Tyokyaa promised, “Now that we’ve been sworn in, we’ll get things moving so that we can produce fantastic outcomes.”
Ewaje Egwa, the state’s female leader, praised Mr. Ortom for appointing women to several positions and fostering their political aspirations.
Bemgba Iortyom is the director of media and publicity and Ediga Akpa is the council’s secretary.
