Lagos – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Sunday that two persons died when an uncompleted seven-storey building collapsed in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
South-West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the collapsed house is located on Oba Idowu Oniru Street.
He said four construction workers still trapped under the rubbles.
According to him, rescue operations are still ongoing for the remaining trapped persons.
Emergency responders at the scene are from the Nigeria Police Force, NEMA, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, State Fire Service and the Lagos State Building Control Agency.
Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu had earlier said six people were reportedly trapped under the collapsed structure.
“Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, an uncompleted seven-storey building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed.
“The agency’s heavy duty equipment excavator will be required for the rescue of the trapped victims. We have activated Lagos State Response plan,” he said . ( vitalnewsngr.com)
