Troops under the Theatre Command of North East Operation Hadin Kai have killed 16 terrorists during a deadly night encounter in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Troops also successfully repelled the deadly night assault by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters .
The attack began around 11 p.m. on Thursday and lasted for several hours.
According to local sources, the terrorists launched multiple Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), aiming to strike a military base within the town.
A resident who spoke anonymously revealed that troops, under the command of Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, effectively resisted the onslaught.
Air support was quickly deployed, and after two hours of intense fighting, the insurgents were forced to retreat, leaving behind significant casualties.
The remaining attackers reportedly fled into the bush, many with gunshot wounds, and are currently being pursued by troops.
Although an ammunition storage facility was hit during the attack, the fire was swiftly contained.
Fortunately,there were no civilian casualties reported.
