Ongoing efforts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to reconcile its warring members suffered a setback on Friday when the Chairman of the Ijumu Local Government Chapter of the party in Kogi State, Hon. Oyewole Mayowa Solomon suddenly slumped and died during a reconcilliation meeting.
Solomon was said to have suddenly slumped and died during the meeting held in Iyara, the headquarters of the Ijumu Local Government, Kogi State.
The meeting was convened by a former chairman of the local government, Hon Funsho Olumoko.
The meeting was convened to work on warring members to close ranks and promote unity among APC stakeholders in the local government.
The meeting was aimed at promoting cohesion in the party ahead the 2027 general elections.
However, tragedy, struck midway into the meeting when Solomon suddenly collapsed and died.
He was said to have been immediately rushed to a hospital in Kabba for medical treatment, but was pronounced brought in dead by a doctor on duty.
Party leaders, stakeholders members and supporters who were at the meeting with him were thrown into confusion and shock while the news of his suddent death quickly spread to nook and cranny of the local government.
Circumstances surrounding his death had not been officially disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Efforts to obtain reactions from his family and the Ijumu APC leadership were abortive.
