The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has applauded the President Bola Tinubu administration for launching the long-awaited Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) initiative.
‎
‎In a statement signed by its chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe, the group noted that it was an initiative designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the practical application of acquired knowledge.
‎
The TMV said : ‎”We applaud the vision of the Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, that innovations that emerge from the programme will eventually ‘evolve into patents and licensable technologies with potential for significant local and global impact.
‎
‎”We also align with the view of the former minister of power, Professor Barth Nnaji, who, during the launch of the grant, linked innovation and commercialisation of research, and posited that the new Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) is a ‘’milestone with historical significance.’’
‎
‎”Furthermore, it is noted that the federal government had on November 17, 2025, launched an application portal for the S-VCG as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Tinubu administration.
‎
‎”The positive implication of the new programme is that the Nigerian tertiary education sector will in due course transition from churning out theoretical graduates to ones with technical know-how and ultimately become manufacturers and industrialists like Prof. Nnaji who had successfully translated his classroom knowledge as a professor of robotics engineering in the United States to an industrialist of note.
‎
‎”We therefore commend the provision of N50million in equity-free grants to beneficiaries by the federal government as this has the potential to encourage the setting up of manufacturing entities capable of elevating Nigeria to a manufacturing hub over a period of time.”
‎
‎The group added that it was convinced that the Tinubu administration would support the upcoming young generation of Nigerian graduates to be productive and useful to society.
