A youth group under the aegis Taraba North Progressives Forum has endorsed the Senator representing Taraba North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen. Shuaibu Lau, to continue in office for another term.

The group announced its support for his continuity at a news conference ron Sunday in Jalingo.

The briefing which was addressed by the Acting Secretary of the Forum, Comrade Ibrahim Manga, was attended by its stakeholders and other youth groups, party faithfuls and community leaders from across the senatorial district.

Manga said the decision followed a critical assessment of the senator’s performance over the years, dismissing claims by the opposition elements that he has not performed upto expectation in the previous two terms.

The Acting Secretary cited what he described as “verifiable achievements” and impact across the senatorial district among women, youths and older people.

He maintained that the Senator who went to the National Assembly in 2017, had demonstrated “commitment, resilience and focus” in delivering development projects and legislative representation to the people effectively.

According to the Forum, the lawmaker has recorded significant strides in rural electrification, including the installation of 500KVA transformers in several communities, such as Lamido-Borno, Sunkani, Korkaye, Baba Ya’u and parts of Jalingo and Zing Local Government areas.

He added that electrification projects were also extended to underserved communities, while faulty infrastructure in areas such as Kona, Monkin, and Tashan Lau had been rehabilitated.

On renewable energy, Manga explained that street solar lights had been installed in most of the district’s 61 wards to improve security and economic activities.

He said that Senator Lau has embarked on several intervention projects in the education sector, saying that classroom blocks had been constructed and upgraded in several communities across the six local government areas of the Senatorial District.

The Forum also referenced the senator’s ongoing legislative efforts, including bills to establish a Federal College of Education in Karim Lamido and a Federal University of Science and Technology in Lau.

Similarly, the forum observed that the health sector had gotten its share as the Senator has facilitated a donation of an ambulance to Zing General Hospital, provision of medical equipment and support for the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Jalingo, among several other projects executed.

He added that, to address water challenges, the Senator had drilled boreholes and provided solar-powered water facilities in several communities in the district.

While urging constituents to support the continuity project of the ranking Senator, Manga argued that Senator Lau’s experience and status in the National Assembly placed him in a better position to attract more development to the area.

“We have come to a clear and undeniable conclusion to endorse Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau for another term based on his track record and performance,” he stated.

He called on the electorate in Taraba North Senatorial District to remain focussed and united in their support for what he described as “credible and result-oriented representation” ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
