The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a new venue for its national convention scheduled to hold in Abuja on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The announcement of a venue for the convention out an end to days of uncertainty over the event’s location.
In a statement posted Monday on its official X handle, the party disclosed that the convention would take place at the Rainbow Event Centre, located at Plot 1193A, Off Southern Parkway, Garki Area 8, Abuja.
The party said the facility provides a central and accessible location for delegates and stakeholders expected from across the country.
“Venue for the ADC National Convention : Rainbow Event Center, Plot 1193A, Off Southern Parkway, Garki Area 8, Abuja.
“Landmarks: Located behind the FCDA/AGIS Building and in close proximity to the NTA Headquarters, Area 11,” the statement read.
The announcement follows earlier concerns raised over the party’s inability to secure a venue less than 24 hours to the convention.
Kola Ologbondiyan, media aide to the embattled National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, had alleged that the party was yet to be issued a venue despite efforts to obtain one.
“Twenty-four hours to the ADC National Convention, the Nigerians-aligned political party is yet to be issued a venue,” he said.
Ologbondiyan further claimed that the party formally applied to use Eagle Square through the office of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, but received no response, despite acknowledgment of the request.
He added that attempts to secure alternative facilities at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, including the Velodrome, were unsuccessful.
However, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, denied the claims on Monday, stating that no formal application had been received by his office.
He maintained that Eagle Square remains open to all groups, provided due process is followed and requisite fees are paid.
“We do not deny access; these events actually generate revenue for the government.
“Who denied them? I am not aware of any such development, and I don’t even know which party you are referring to,” Wike said.
