Two men were on Monday shot dead by suspected armed robbers in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Reports said the incident happened when the armed robbers opened fire in the parking lot of a popular restaurant, Diamond Dumplings.
Two other persons were also critically injured in the shooting incident which took place st about 12:30am of Monday, November 11, 2024.
The injured victims were rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Idi Aba, Abeokuta where they are currently receiving treatment.
The suspected armed robbers said to be three in number were said to have arrived the parking lot in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux, around 12:30 AM on November 11, 2024.
On arrival, they confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate number, demanding the car keys from them.
The assailants reportedly opened fire when the victims refused to surrender the car keys, killing one Ola (surname unknown) and one Shobanke Oluwatimileyin on the spot.
The divisional police officer from Ibara, responding to distress calls, arrived at the scene and ensured the area was secured before transporting the victims to the hospital.
Confirming the incident, the state police public relations officer, Omolola Odutola, said a preliminary investigation has been initiated into the incident.
Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, added that the public will be informed about the progress of the investigation in the coming days. (vitalnewsngr.com)
