Former FIFA-accredited referee and current General Manager of South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL), Mr. Andile Aldrin Ncobo and his wife, Salomie have been arrested and charged with fraud and money laundering.

The couple are out on bail after making a brief appearance at the Bellville Magistrates Court in Cape Town on Monday.

They face charges of fraud and money laundering related to a million rand corporate social investment project in the Eastern Cape.

Ncobo and his wife were arrested following an investigation by the Hawks into alleged misappropriation of funds meant for school infrastructure development.

Western Cape Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani said the two allegedly presented PetroSA with false information.

It’s alleged that they intentionally misrepresented that the Gangatha Junior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape needed funding for infrastructure upgrades.

“They submitted proposals supported by forged trust deeds and donor documentation, creating a false impression that Gangatha Projects, a non-registered entity, was a legitimate channel for school development,” said Hani

Hanie added that relying on this information, PetroSA paid R13 million ($700,000) to the school’s project bank account.

However, it was later revealed that the suspects controlled the Gangatha Project bank account.

Andile was granted bail of R50,000, and his wife was released on R30,000 bail.

The couple will be back in court on 29 May, 2025.
