In the heart of Kogi State, Nigeria, emerges a politician who embodies the true spirit of public service – Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District.

A man of humble beginnings, Karimi’s journey is a testament to perseverance and dedication.

His academic excellence laid the foundation for a successful career in engineering and politics.

Karimi’s entry into politics was marked by his election as a Member of the House of Representatives in 2011, representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro constituency. His impactful performance earned him re-election in 2015, making him the first lawmaker in his constituency to serve two terms.

In 2023, he took a significant leap, winning the senatorial seat for Kogi West Senatorial District, defeating the opposition Parties candidates.

As Chairman of the Committee on Senate Services, Karimi has been instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s legislative landscape.

He has sponsored numerous bills and motions, focusing on critical sectors like agriculture, oil and gas, banking, and security.

Notable initiatives include the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (Amendment) Bill 2023, aimed at enhancing access to credit for small-scale farmers, and the National Fertilizer Quality Control Bill 2023, ensuring high-quality inputs for farmers.

Karimi’s commitment to community development is evident in his numerous projects.

He has facilitated the construction of 75 solar-powered boreholes and rehabilitation of 60 moribund water schemes across Kogi West, valued at N1.24 billion.

His efforts have also led to the establishment of a military base in Egbe, enhancing regional security and the upgrading of the Government Science Secondary School Koton, Karfi in Kogi Local Government Area.

A champion of empowerment, Karimi has disbursed over N200 million in scholarships and cooperative funds, supporting students and women in his constituency.

His dedication to education is reflected in his N100 million scholarship fund for deserving students and the ongoing disbursement of N300 million scholarship for students across the three senatorial districts in the state.

Senator Karimi’s leadership is characterized by integrity, fairness, and philanthropy, hence he supported the construction of the Security Base project championed by Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area chairman, Barrister Dare Michael  with the sum of N5 million.

His focus on fiscal responsibility, equitable development, security, and rural infrastructure has earned him broad respect.

As he continues to serve, his legacy inspires hope for a brighter future in Kogi West and beyond 2027

In the words of Rukayat Suleiman, President of Unique Ladies Association Lokoja, “Sen. Karimi’s representation of Kogi West is exemplary, highlighting his focus on enhancing well-being through initiatives.”

As Nigeria navigates its development path, leaders like Senator Sunday Karimi will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future.
