Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has charged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State to remain united and committed as the party approaches a critical phase in its rebuilding process.
Speaking at a pre-national convention dinner held at his Abuja residence, which brought together Kwara delegates, aspirants, state executives, and key stakeholders, Saraki described the forthcoming convention as a defining moment for the party.
According to his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Saraki noted that the PDP’s journey to securing a place on the ballot is one that requires collective sacrifice and unwavering dedication, emphasizing that the convention represents the “last leg” in building a formidable platform capable of reclaiming the state.
“Alhamdulillah that we are at this point,” Saraki said, expressing gratitude for the progress made so far.
“This convention is very important to us—not just as a party, but as a state seeking a credible platform for contest,” he said.
The former governor of Kwara State urged all aspirants to approach the process of primaries after the convention with maturity, stressing that the contest is not a “do-or-die affair,” but rather a collective mission to ensure the party’s victory and the rescue of the state from its current challenges.

He said : “What is important is PDP winning and salvaging our state
‘Everyone involved has made sacrifices in one form or another, including himself.”
Saraki called for sustained unity beyond the convention, urging party members to remain committed to a shared goal.
He emphasized the need for immediate post-convention mobilization across wards and local government areas, involving state executives, youth groups, and party directorates to intensify efforts toward victory.
“We should all be committed and stay together for the sake of our state,” he said.

In a reconciliatory tone, Saraki also extended an open invitation to members of opposing camps, assuring them that the PDP remains inclusive and ready to accommodate all who are willing to join in rebuilding Kwara.
“Our doors are open. Many are suffering in silence—we can accommodate as many as possible for the sake of the state,” he added.
Reiterating the party’s mission, Saraki decried what he described as the “bad narrative” brought upon Kwara by the current administration, expressing confidence that the PDP would reclaim the state and usher in a new era of prosperity.
“PDP shall resecure the state and lead it to prosperity,” he declared, concluding with a reminder that “PDP is a family affair. (vitalnewsngr.com)
