The General Overseer of Dayspring Assembly, Awada, Obosi, Anambra State, Pastor Harrison Anazodo, has appeared in a wheelchair before an Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka for alleged snatching of 75 married women from their husbands.
Anazodo was arrested in June by officials of the state government for allegedly snatching up to 75 married women from their husbands.
The cleric, who was brought to court from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka, is facing a seven-count charge filed by the government.
The charges border on alleged promotion of wealth acquisition through supernatural means, murder, abduction and unlawful separation and isolation of individuals from their families.
The alleged promotion of wealth acquisition through supernatural means is an offence under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, 2025.
When the charges were read to him, Anazodo pleaded not guilty to the counts.
Following his plea, the defence counsel, W. O. Abonyi moved an application for bail.
However, prosecution counsel, C. V. Ononye opposed the application, arguing that the prosecution had not been adequately notified to enable it to respond.
Justice Jude Obiora, while considering the defendant’s health condition, ordered that he be returned to the hospital.
The court was informed that Anazodo had spent three weeks in the Intensive Care Unit of the teaching hospital.
The judge adjourned the matter until October 12 for hearing of the bail application and further proceedings.
