Police in Ilorin, Kwara State, have arrested Malaika, the son of Iya Ibiye, a traditional worshipper, in connection with the recent fire incident that gutted their family house in the Ojagboro area of Ilorin, the state capital.
Malaika was arrested in the early hours of Sunday by operatives and has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the for further questioning.
The development comes barely 24 hours after the police officially announced the arrest of three community leaders over the same incident.
The arrested individuals were reportedly members of the Community Development Association (CDA) leadership in the area.
A police source disclosed that investigations are still ongoing to determine the actual cause of the fire and unravel the roles played by all parties involved.

The source noted that the command is keen on establishing the full circumstances surrounding the incident, amid claims and counterclaims of arson.
According to the source, all suspects found culpable, including the already arrested community leaders and any others that may emerge in the course of the investigation, will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The Kwara State Police Command then reiterated its commitment to a thorough and impartial investigation, urging members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as the case progresses.
