The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for a second term in office as the Governor of Osun State.
The governors also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for their roles in the conduct of the election.
In a statement on Sunday by the NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Forum said Adeleke’s performance and personal qualities contributed to his victory in the keenly contested poll.
The governors also commended the people of Osun State for their large turnout, saying the strong interest generated by the off-cycle election reaffirmed the resilience of Nigeria’s democracy.
The Forum recognised the contribution of opposition parties to the democratic process and commended all the candidates for their participation and efforts during the election.
It particularly praised the security agencies for containing the violence recorded in the days preceding the poll and creating a secure environment that allowed the election to proceed without significant incidents.
The NGF further commended President Tinubu for what it described as his statesmanlike handling of the election, noting that he successfully balanced his position as leader of the ruling party with his broader responsibility as the nation’s president.
The Forum expressed confidence that Adeleke would consolidate the achievements of his first term and continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State during his second tenure.
“We are confident that His Excellency, Ademola Adeleke, will continue to build on the successes of his first term in the overall interest of the people of Osun State,” AbdulRazaq said.
