Two women on Friday night lost their lives in FESTAC area of Lagos when they were electrocuted.

The electrocution was said to have been caused by lightning which accompanied a heavy downpour in the area on Friday.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident in a post on X.com on Saturday.

He stated that the victims were living in a shanty built under the high-voltage wires which caught fire as a result of the lightning.

Hundeyin wrote, “Somewhere on First Avenue, Festac, two women remained indoors during the downpour yesterday.
