Anthony Joshua’s Lexus Jeep Travelling Beyond Legally Prescribed Speed Limit When It Crashed – FRSC

The FRSC said a Lexus Jeep in which Nigerian born world boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, was travelling was suspected to be going “beyond the legally prescribed speed limit” when it was involved in a crash on Lagos – Ibadan expressway on Monday.

The FRSC stated this in an update it shared on the accidents involving Joshua and other occupants at a section of the Lagos – Ibadan expressway in Makun, Ogun State on Monday, December 29, 2025.

The FRSC confirmed that
five adult males were involved in the crash – two of whom have died. Two others “escaped unhurt”.

Joshua was “rescued alive and sustained minor injuries”.

He was taken for “medical attention”.

It said the accident occurred because the Lexus Jeep lost control during “an overtaking manoeuvre” and crashed into a stationary truck by the side of the road.

Meanwhile , Ogun State Government has expressed shock iver the death of two victims of the fatal road crash involving icon, Anthony Joshua.

Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser, on Information and Strategy and strategy in a statement expressed profound condolences to the families, friends, and associates of the victims.

It also gave gratitude to Gid that the world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, narrowly escaped death in the crash.

Anthony Joshua and four others were reportedly travelling from Lagos to Sagamu at the time of the incident.

Akinmade said : ” The Ogun State Government describes the incident as deeply unfortunate and painful, particularly with the loss of precious lives, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving medical care.

“Motorists are therefore urged to exercise utmost caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season when vehicular movement is typically heavy.

“Road safety officers and other security agencies are also enjoined to intensify surveillance and enforcement efforts across the State to ensure the safety of lives and property.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident, which the State considers a devastating loss.

“As we mourn collectively, we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
