The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide on Thursday disbursed N60 million loans to 276 women traders in Kabba/Bunu-Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State.
‎
‎The loans disbursement was done through his Foundation, Leke ABEJIDE Foundation.
‎
The loans were disbursed to the women through 31 registered cooperatives societies operating withing the constituency.

The Director-General of Leke Abejide Foundation, Oba Shola Adebola, at the cheque presentation event at Kabba, said Hon. Abejide placed premium on women development and growth.

He said this informed his decision to extend the gesture to women beneficiaries from the two LGAs, even when he is from another constituency.
‎
‎Adebola said : “Women, by their nature and position, constitute vital stakeholders in the task of nation building, therefore, any initiative geared towards women’s empowerment, especially at the grassroots, is a welcome development and worthwhile investment.”
‎
‎Oba Adebola said the House of Representatives member for Yagba Federal Constituency, Leke Abejide has continued to make remarkable progress in service to humanity through the Foundation named after him – Leke Abejide Foundation.

He explained that Hon. Abejide had earlier floated a N100 million interest free loan scheme for women in Yagba Federal Constituency through various co-operative groups.
‎
‎”This Empowerment project, being anchored by Leke Abejide Micro Finance Scheme is gaining more prominence, following the inclusion of Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu Federal Constituency.
‎
‎”A sum of N60 million is here today presented, through 31 co-operative groups to women in Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu local government areas, covering 276 Beneficiaries.
‎
‎”The interest free loan, 30 million naira per local government, involving 142 women in Kabba-Bunu and 134 in Ijumu, is expected to be paid back within a period of 12 months.”
‎
‎The Director General said the scheme will soon be extended to cover the entire Kogi Western Senatorial District; a development which received the applause of critical stakeholders in the senatorial district.
