Kogi State government has ratified the selection of Chief Shola Adebola Samuel as the new Olugbagun of Igbagunland in Yagba East Council Area of the state.
The ratification was contained in a letter dated May 22, 2025 and addressed to the new traditional ruler by the Kogi State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Igbagun, a prominent community in South East Yagba is a key area of Okun speaking Yoruba people of Kogi State.
The selection and consequent approval of Chief Shola Adebola Samuel as the new Olugbagun follows the demise of the former occupier of the throne, Oba Joshua Adeyemi who died on October 3, 2024.
The new king, a second- class traditional ruler is a seasoned bureaucrat and a former local government council chairman.
The new traditional has chosen to be addressed henceforth as His Royal Highness, Oba Shola Adebola Samuel, the Olugbagun of Igbagun Kingdom. (vitalnewsngr.com)
