“THE ERA OF RENEWED HOPE“ – Tinubu’s Acceptance Speech
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the Acting Leader of the pan- Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, says his grouse with the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stemmed from the roles the former Lagos State governor played in the internal crises of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

Adebanjo who revealed this during an exclusive interview with Sahara Reporters, claimed that he played a crucial role in shaping Tinubu’s political career.

He said he stood by him when many were against his candidacy in the party due to his character.

However, Adebanjo, said his perception of Tinubu changed when he caused internal disputes in the Alliance for Democracy (AD) after becoming Lagos State governor.

He stated that Tinubu still respects him, but he is unhappy with how he turned his back on party stakeholders and sidelined key party members who had supported him.

Adebanjo accused Tinubu of bribing dubious characters into his cabinet, which went against the principles they stood for.

”I don’t want to be involved in any discussion about Asiwaju, he’s my boy. I created Bola Tinubu by God’s will, people blame me for making him Lagos governor.

“I said I don’t regret because it was the system that brought him there.

“I didn’t impose him, he paid only half a million to win the primary back then,” he explained.

The Afenifere Leader also
said that ” there is no personal animosity between him and Tinubu, and Tinubu still gives him respect. ”

He, however, said the way Tinubu was running the party was against the way they had brought him up.
